[Save the Date] opening Schietbaan

The transformation of the Schietbaan into a colourfull piece of art was recently completed. This strange and isolated building has no windows and therefore ideal for VR experiments, media art or sound art.  After the summer, we continue programming the Schietbaan with initiatives from Cityscapes Gallery and AHK.

Call: if you have ideas for the Schietbaan or if you need it to do a test run, mail to  jacqueline@marineterrein.nl

Save the Date: On September 12th*, at 17.00 hours, the Schietbaan, will be opened officially. The community of the Marineterrein is very welcome to join. An invitation will follow soon.

*NOT the 5th as mentioned earlier

[INVITATION] 9 July: Sneak preview Future Food expo

Sneak preview Future Food expo

On 10 July, NEMO Science Museum’s Studio, a new location housed in Building 027A on the Marineterrein, will open its doors to the public. Previously used by the Ministry of Defence as a gym, Building 027A will now host workshops, exhibitions and conferences. First up: the Future Food expo.

The opening of this new location marks an important milestone for NEMO! To celebrate, you and your colleagues are invited to a sneak preview during the next Marineterrein community get-together, on 9 July. This event, which will be hosted by NEMO, will bring together the Marineterrein community and everyone involved in the realization of De Studio and the Future Food expo.

With the Future Food exhibition, NEMO Science Museum and Marineterrein community member Next Nature Network will take visitors on a future food journey. Through plant-based, animal-based and functional food scenarios, visitors will learn more about things like the future of insects as a food source, artificial meat, genetically modified organisms, biotechnologies, plant-based alternatives, alternative cultivation methods, food as medicine, and the entirely new sensory experiences future food could offer.

Date: 9 July 2019
Time: 17.00 – 19.00
Location: De Studio, Marineterrein, Building 027A
Kattenburgerstraat 5, 1018 JA Amsterdam

We hope to see you there!

Warm greetings,
Michiel Buchel, NEMO Science Museum and Liesbeth Jansen, Bureau Marineterrein Amsterdam
